This site is brought to you by: The Coal and Coke Heritage Center
Coal and Coke and Kids mission is to educate, motivate, and instill the history of the Connellsville Coal and Coke Era within children. Children of Pennsylvania and the world need to understand the dynamic role Southwestern Pennsylvania played during the late 1800's till the early 1900's. The Connellsville Coal and Coke Era left an everlasting impression on the landscape of Pennsylvania (mines, patch towns, beehive ovens) and the world (the Golden Gate Bridge, the Empire State Building, the Gateway to the West, and ammunition during WWI and WWII). Children must know their heritage and be able to appreciate other cultures. Bobby Salitrik, author of Coal Mines, Coke Yards, Company Stores allowed the Coal and Coke and Kids Website to utilize the content of the children's book. We want to thank Bobby for her gracious generosity. This book is full of pages to color and educational stories. It is available at the Coal and Coke Heritage Center. Learn more about the Coal and Coke Heritage Center and how you can contribute to the preservation to capture the history and heritage of the coal and coke industries.
